To WillyB,The 69 Ranger came with power steering, so will I have the truck down I am putting a new pump and either rebuild the steering unit or swap out with rebuilt one. Also I am putting American Raceing OUTLAW WHEELS ON IT.
TO SIX NINER, You say you used a 74 model is there any specail model like a Ranger or xlt that I need to look for? I also think I am going with polyurethane bushings. Do you know of any place to get a kit? Like LMC,NPD?
no, both models used the same front end. 73-76 or 7 are the same. i think i read a post where it said the beams on 78-79 were a little wider. i got my bushings from lmc.
i got the whole front end rebuild kit from performancesuspension with the tierod ends, links, drag link ,new kingpins, brass bushings, and the other bushings and cups were all graphite impregnated urethane. cost shipped to my door was 219.00
To 4CAMMER72,Thanks for the info.Does this company have a webb site? How did you contact them also do you order the parts for the 69 or the year model you are using as a parts truck?
According to my Chilton's, the king pin angle changed on various models. On my '70, I took everything off one donor truck, a '76. Stock wheels fit the disc brakes fine. I roamed the junkyard w/ calipers to get a pair of discs w/ life in 'em. I replaced all the rubber bushings; now she goes down the road in a straight line!
yes they do have a site and to get to it put a www in front of performancesuspension and a . followed by a com. sorry for spreadin it out but the web address would be wiped out if it was all together. you will have to order by phone though . they do have a toll free number. i bought the parts for the year truck that the parts came from. i used a 79 front end on a 72 the kit was for a 79. if your interested i have a few pics of my suspension in my gallery. good luck
