Does anyone know the options that came on the 1973 F-100 Ranger XLT package?Did all XLT's have a cargo light?I guess they are a lot of parts to change to bring just a Ranger to a Ranger XLT?
Hey...77&79F250.......Not trying to start an issue here but your list says a Ranger had a white cardboard headliner......my '78 Ranger has interior color (brown) and is a perforated vinyl on top of the cardboard.....also has brown visors and has chrome headliner trim as you stated. It also had the brown rubber floor covering (but it was completely shot leading me to believe it was the original....pointing towards a Ranger) The door panels are 2 tone.....brown with tan painted inserts.....Also mine has the lower body side moldings (about 3" wide)......along with the wide rubber strip dent molding and wheel well arch trim......maybe that stuff was added to a basic Ranger when it was ordered??? I've never really pored over an options brochure.....so not sure how it ended up that way.......I'm 2nd owner of it and the ol' boy I bought it from said it was original except for a outside re-paint.....I've owned it for 7 years now and been over the whole truck with a fine tooth comb more than once......and so far no reason to doubt what he told me....I suspect it was like that when he bought it new.....
I looked in the 1973 Ford Truck brochure and answered my question. The Ranger XLT had a lot of extras added over the Ranger. The convenience group came standard on the XLT which included the cargo light.MY understanding is all XLT's had the cargo light. To completely change just a Ranger to Ranger XLT would take quit a lot of added options but could be done!
78 Peb no harm no foul, I think ranger429 did a real good job putting HIS information together. I on the other hand did not double ck it, so there could be some different answers or options out there.
I guess check your "build sheet", versus the "buck tag", and or get a Marti report to be 100% sure.
Yeah, it looks like a very complete list that ranger 429 put together. I just wonder if Ford was any more consistent on what was included in each trim level thru the years 73-79 than they were in later years.....I wish I had a build sheet to verify it, I have never researched what is on the buck tag and just never have taken the time or $$ to get a Marti report. Guess now I have a reason to LOL. Until I read that yesterday, I had no reason to question what the old man had told me......Guess once I get back to work and have the $ I will order a Marti...........
I have heard of folks finding the "build sheet" in the seat. Between the springs and the foam on the bottom or back piece of seat. Time to pull the seat and look.
