Did have some Autolite/Champion problems with GPs but SSC and Beru are one happy family.

Granted the older gp systems were very bad and burned up GPs when they stuck on. Doing the push button with them is strongly advised.

Do any of you have the exact way written up to do the push button in the Solid state system, if so please PM it to me as I would like to see it and keep it in my files....thanks

How do you know if you have the older gp system or the solid state system?

I have a '92 7.3 F-250, should I convert to the push button system?

Thanks!

The old style system was in the 86 and older diesels, in 87 they went to the new solid state system.

As far as should you change, that is personal preference.
I am in and out of my truck many times a day while working.
With the controller hooked up the glow plugs heat every time I start the truck even though it is at operating temp because I just turned it off 5 minutes ago. I do not like changing glow plugs on mine because it is a turbo motor, they are a pain to change.
So instead of heating them 50 times in one day, I use them once in the morning. That 50 times is now two months worth of glow plug cycles instead of one day. Since I control the glow plugs they heat less times in a year now than they did in a week with the controller working. Wonder why they last so much longer now.
