Cool 2002 complete coolant flush?????

Whats up everybody, so I went to go and do my own 50k tune up yesterday, and the only thing I accomplished was changing the fule pump and re gapped some bosch platnum spark plugs I had installed a while back. I inspected the serp belt, and it looked like it was practically brand new so I chose to leave that alone. My old tranny blew out on me like at 29-30k and was still under warrenty so I got a brand new one of thoes so I dont feel thst the fluid needs to be changed in there, I checked the dip stik and the fluid still looks brand new, so I feel real confident with that choice. Which leaves me with the radiator flush, Man do I ever need some good advice on this topic. I dont even know where to start. #1 where is the drain plug on the radiator its self? I think I found the plugs on the block but cant be sure. Do they lok like a little square with threds on them? if not what do they look like so I can know what Im looking for. I would love some input on this topic PLEASE this minor detail is killing me.

Hey Pual,
The radiator drain plug is a white plastic hex head "bolt" about 9/16 or 5/8 inch. It is on the back side of the radiator, bottom right corner (looking from the cab forward).
I believe it is a captive plug so it won't come out all the way. I believe the same type plug can be found in the engine block.
If you take the cap off the resivoir (is that how you spell it?) and loosen the plug, the radiator will drain.
Remember - no kitties or doggies around - they like it but it can kill them.
Let us know of you have more questions.
Nice to have you here!

I've heard that as well. Supposedly they love the taste of antifreeze. Yum!

I've never tried it. Battery acid isn't very good though. I tried some once when I had a battery blow out due to a pair of jumper cables with reversed leads. Other than the reversed leads, they were nice cables. Welding cable, 15' long.

Mr Clean, does your truck run fine on the Bosch platnium plugs? Most people here have had trouble using them, me being one of them. Just curious. General consensus seems to be Motorcraft OEM.

The coolant exchange machine we have at work makes coolant flushes a snap. It makes me think, you could probably 'ghetto-rig' a shop-vac into a coolant exchanger. Go to your local warehouse store, like costco, and stock up on conventional and dex-cool coolant. Hell, get chrysler coolant too. We at sears charge 59.99 + tax for the service. Charge $30 to all your neighbors.

Boom, entrepreneurship at it's best.

I do recommend the coolant flush, because I also have an '02 and I had to replace my radiator at 100k because of cooling issues. You can search my threads about this topic. Also, use distilled water to refill your radiator,as it will not cause a build up of minerals in your radiator.

The motor has a T50 Hex bolt for coolant draining of the block. And it is a captive plug on the radiator.

When I first put them in, I had a slight hesitation in the idle, especially when I ran the heater or A/C, but I took them out and re gapped them to proper specs and torked them to specs as well Im not having any problims, and this rattling shound in my dash went away as well, it was from for taking apart the dash to get to my fuel relay, go figure I take it in to get that replaced, and I get the truck back with the relay fixed but I had an annoying as hell rattle in the dash! go figure. Thats why I do all the work myself now!
