Anyone want to define these terms first???? I have worked between people that call themselves rednecks and those that call themselves Yanks-- that was no fun. It is funny how some people define themselves.

I'm wondering on the terms myself. I've met plenty of Northerners who were rednecks....

I am a Redneck! In my definition of the word. I am not racist, I hate everybody!!! Ecspecially those that Rob, Cheat, and Steal. I have all my teeth, don't have sex with my cousin, and don't eat Opossum.

Same for me. Also I have been to college and graduated in the upper percentage of my class with a 3.7/4.0 gpa. I also live nrth of the old Mason Dixon line so I am a yank too.
I also hunt, wear boots, chew tobacco, and drink beer. I never mix the beer and hunting though.
So I guess I qualify as both.

I live in California, we wern't really involved in all that Yankee/Rebel stuff...although my Gramma was from the south (Virginia). I guess you could say I'm a redneck, I work outdoors in the sun all day and refuse to wear my ballcap backwards so my neck gets exposed to the sun, I drive a pickup truck, listen to Country music, but I too still have all my own teeth (a rarity in this area) and have a fairly good command of the English language. (Although I can turn it on and off at will.) -TD

I'm in the same boat as builttough, except I'm from AZ. I drink coors light and frequently find myself in wife beaters (although I'm not married). So I guess I'm a redneck???

I had someone explain to me one time where the term redneck came from. They were called rednecks because they were so busy working in the fields all day long, that they didn't have the time to look up and their necks became very red and tanned. If being a hard worker who busts their butt to get the job makes you a redneck, then count me in!
