Just my thoughts , we have Rednecks above and below the 49th. Yankie is the slang for American just as Canuck is for Canadian. Wasn't Yankie a slang term for the Northern Army in American Civil War time ???

I'm a "CAJUN" from south of I-10 with a yankee last name.

I'm confused.

My great grandfather was from Michigan (?) I think. So my grandfather stayed down here and married into cajun blood. Of course I don't speak the cajun french, or dance like the cajun's dance. I do eat crawfish and shell fish. I do fish, when someone takes me.

I'm a half breed Yank.

Has anyone ever thought about who would win a civil war between North and South if fought today? I am pretty sure that the South would win handily. All the Yankees would be too busy checking their Blackberries.
Thought about your last quote a lot and I'm sure the south would probably win and not because of what you're thinking... You hit the nail on the head with the "negativity" comment. There is a lot of it here, but there are plenty of actual Americans up North still like me that have morals, love to drive big trucks, fast cars and kick @&& and they would more than likely defect. Don't look down on everyone in New England. We're not all bad like the morons that supposedly represent us... Don't get me wrong! There are plenty of socialist scumbags aka Mass Senators etc, that should be and are hated... If all of us normal guys left the area, there wouldn't be anyone left to fight against the leftwingers... There's a ton of good history and beautiful country up here that I refuse to give up to them without a fight! My Harley helmet bears the Rebel flag next to the Marine emblem because of it's history and the fact that some lawyers and lefties said it doesn't represent the "good" of the south. My **** it doesn't. It's part of the American fabric they're trying to rip away.

I'm a cowboy, which is kind of like a redneck that dresses a bit sharper and likes rodeo.
I do have one big deviation, though...I've got to keep the vehicles all shined up. I do have an aged car in the barn/stable however. That's a project car, though, so it ain't fair, I tell you!

Since we seem to have the same enemy in the more condescending section of US Society, I have no problem with a cowboy-redneck pact, as there appears to be. Years ago, you had to be a poor, rural southerner to be a redneck. These days, the term appears to be bandied about as some sort of smear label for anyone who lives in a rural area. I, for one, bear the label proudly, because I know full well that I'll be sleeping with a clean conscience after a hard day's work. If the neck is sunburned and the collar is blue, so be it. I live comfortably, and I've got good friends, strong beliefs, and a neat collection of guns and pickups. I like the Town Christmas Tree. I absolutely do listen to George Strait, and I love tractor racing, rodeo, and all that good stuff half the nation appears to hate. I don't want to have children that can't shoot straight, ride a horse, and speak truthfully. If that is something folks look down upon, I guess it's their perogative.

LT1Z2AVE - I know you're still up there. I tired of fighting that kind of fight, but thanks for keeping the fires burning. They'll never tear that piece of the fabric out you speak of, by the way. I'll tip my hat to the political sentiment as well, although that might get us into a bit of toruble here with the mods. I'll second that negativity remark, too, because I don't miss it down here. Semper Fi!

Question who won

The one thing that keeps coming to the intelligance of a southern red neck is that they reenact the civil war and they still lose. But in there eyes General Lee won that war. Go figure

Glory, I'm a Florida cracker too but I've been up nawth a bunch.... Son, you ain't missin' a thing! The best of up nawth can't compare with ANY part of Florida.
There is no doubt in my mind why Florida's population is rising and up nawth's is shrinking!
BTW, to us native Floridians, ALL the rest of the nation are Yankees!

When I get old, I'm moving to Michigan and I'm going to drive 40 in the left lane!
