Just curious if anyone out there has any information on how a ATV with a plow or a snowblower attachment works. My girlfriend and I are thinking of getting a couple ov ATV's, But I am also in the market for a plow for my F150 just to do our driveway with. I was wondering if anyone would recommend the snowblower attahment for an ATV as apposed to purchasing a plow for my truck. Our driveway is about 40 yards long and I'm thinking the plow would be worth it just to move the snow quickly, However I don't want to put the wear and tear on the truck if the snowblower attahment for the ATV would get the job done in a reasonable time.

For some reason I just don't think a ATV would do all that good of a job.

I would assume the snow blower attatchment would work fine for your situation. Or possibly a good walk behind? How wide is your drive? One problem I see with a plow for your truck is where do you push it? With a snowblower you can direct where the snow goes instead of just making a huge pile at one end of your drive which you then have to somehow clear. Personally I would go with the ATV and a snowblower attatchment.

I have had both, and currently don't have a plow on my truck or do i intend to.
I currently have an atv with a state plow and it works great, i do a lot of plowing because i do it to make money, an atv plow is great for small stuff ie: house driveways and small parking lots. Depending how much snow you get, an atv with 4 wd will work good up to 14" to 18" and I've been walking behind snowthrowers for years and when using both as a team is a great combo.
If you do get an atv with plow, spring for a good winch and switch, when i got mine i cheaped out with a superwinch with a cheap switch, and boy i'm i sorry about that.Once i figure out how to post pics again (senior moment) i'll post some

mjwhip2 makes a good point. with a truck snow plow, it just goes into a big pile. it will also tear up your grass. the snowthrower is probably the most versital of your choices. it will make short work of your drive. if you are getting two atvs, then put a blade on one and the thrower on the other.
if you really have your heart set on a plow for your truck, look into the ones that mount off a 2' receiver hitch mount. they make them for the front of your F-150. it will also double for mounting a removable winch.

Thanks for the response guys. I guess I was just really hoping that someone would talk highly of the ATV plow. I was really nervous that this wasn't going to do the trick but no I have a bit of confidence. Another question. When talking about ATV's I was looking at the Honda rancher 350. I didn't really want to get anything bigger then that #1 becasue of money, and #2 I don't need anything that moves fast because I would only be using it for plowing and trail riding. I'm a 250lb guy so I think with me on that machine it would be enough to wieght to plow with.

Thanks again,
Ryan

Thumbs up honda rancher

I plow with a rancher 350 4x4, i have the electric shift, i has been a great machine, also i do lot of trail riding, with it, it goes thru anything. I believe they have newer ranchers with 400's that you can go from 2 to 4 wd

yeah that's it, off course, polaris must not like me. I spend $6,000.00 on two atv's for my son and daughter and they are junk and the dealer don't seem to care that we are having problems with them, all I know is this, when we ride, other kids with japanese atv's go all day with no issues, and my kids with these polaris, keep breaking down.

the blowers are great for the atv's you need a stiff front suspension though and it is cold doing it but works great they also make a plow.

I have done a lot of plowing with a Grizzly 600. A medium size 4x4 will push a lot of snow and on a long run you can travel at a good speed and throw the snow quite a distance. Just get a set of Heated Grips and it will make all the difference between being cold and having fun.
Also I would opt for the wider plow so when you angle it is still wider than the ATV!
