On my 53 F100, there were badly rusted strips under the rocker panels. They were C-shaped, about 3/4" wide and extended roughly the length of the door. What were these for - a weatherstrip or bumper down to the running boards? Sorry, no pics.
I think that what your talking about is the channel that is used to mount the rubber that covers the gap between the bottom of the cab and the top of the running boards. Mid Fifty sells replacement ones. Sorry, can't remember the technical name....
Scott - John's F-Fun Hundreds calls that thing a (rubber) "Cab to Running Board Seal" and (metal channel) "Retainer". I have a set for my 56, but haven't installed them yet. The rubber seal is stapled (no, really) to the retainer. Mine will go on after paint. The 53-53 and 56 are different parts. The 53-55 seal costs $18.50/pr and the retainers cost $8.75/ea.
Randy, are you talking about the curved pieces at the back of the cab or the straight pieces that run about the length of the cab? I think Narwal is only talking about the straight parts. John
John - Again, I'm giving more info than asked for. Sorry.
Yes, the piece that Scott refers to is the straight channel seal retainer. I was also trying to point out that the complete installation requires more parts than he has. He will need the curved (LH/RH) retainers also. The seal is one-piece.
There is also apparently a difference between the 53-55 retainers and seals and the 56 stuff that I have, but I'm not sure what the difference is.
They are called skirt hanger channel and the other part is the cab rubber skirt the hole kit is 45.00 for ps and 40.00 for stock steel you can get them at Midfifty.com or call them at 1-800-252-1956
