48 Ford, 1 Ton rims?

I am looking for rims old or new that are made to fit this old truck.
The wheels are 17" x 6", w/8 bolt on 6.5" Bolt circle.
The offset appears to be about 1/4" positive. i need to maintain that
in new or old style so it doesn't rub on the pitman arm* of the
steering.
I have new tires but the rims are bent and cannot be balanced in this
condition. As a last resort I may straighten them.
Let me know if you can help.

I'm going to part out my 1949 F3 and I think the wheels are what you are looking for. I'll check the measurements today and let you know. I can not ship them, so someone would have to pick them up here in Southern NH.

Do I hear road trip???

Come on, have a heart and ship the wheels to the fellow!

Try Little Dearborn in Minneapolis, ask for Joe, near the U of M, he may know someone in the area that has some rims and it's alot closer to you. Or the bonusbuilt web site. Someone may have a set they want to part with.

I have 4 rims off of a 1950 F3 I think they are the bolt pattern you are looking for. I live in Mid Minnesota. I can get pictures of them tommorrow afternoon. If you want me to. I do not know if they are factory or not. Any ID marks you are looking for I can get a picture of also. $50.00 for all 4 plus whatever I am charged for tire removal and shipping. The tires are pretty much shot and would cost to much to ship. I have no idea on the shape of the rims as far as being bent or not I have never used.

Hey great! Let me think on that for awhile because I am looking to see if I can get rims that will give me the height I need to match the originals at 33+ " and have a newer tubeless or modern rim to fit the new tires of today. I want to drive them too and i am leary of the older original rims because I am having troble locating original rubber for the original rims too.I didn't know you could post picture on this too? This truck is 95% restored and this is the final hurdle.

These are not a split rim and have old bias ply 17 x 6 tires on them if that helps any.

They don't have a bead in the center that folds over on itself? this is where the hub rivets to the rim. This bead is where the trouble starts apparantly . Sorry for the caution in this

I have pictures of the wheels I will upload. The wheels all have old tires on them I can not see the center. Are you looking for a tubeless rim for tubeless tires? If so you are looking for the wrong wheels, the factory wheels all have tubes and are not made to be run without them. The valve stems come out of the center they are not a drilled hole for a tubeless valve stem

I put pictures in my gallery but they may not be what you want the rims are for a tube type tire.

Most any independent tire store or Farm Co-op can get you the correct bias ply tires alot cheaper than Coker. Sure, Coker specializes in hard to find tires, but they also specialize in high prices. If you are looking for a wide white sidewall tire, you may have to use Coker. But the truck you are talking about did not come with those fancy tires. The tires you are looking for are still pretty common for a reputable independent tire store in your area.

The Ford P/N you are looking for is 7RY 1007 (per 1948-56 Ford parts text catalog, page 5), it is a 17 inch x 5.5 in. rim. Circle diameter is 6.5 inches, 8 lug. The tires that came on that rim were either 7.00 X 17 (6 ply) or 7.50 X 17 (8 ply). Both size are blackwall tires.

Your best bet is to change to F-2 rims. They are a one piece drop center design, like an F-1 wheel. Although your HD 3/4 ton F-3 came with 17" rims, you can get a pretty tall 16" tire to fit the LD 3/4 ton F-2 wheel, and have almost the same effect. The end result is a safe combination that you won't ever have to worry about, and you can still use stock hubcaps.

I don't think you will find those rims as a NOS item anywhere.......Just some FYI to pass along. The part number may help you cross reference to something else if you cannot find the original rims that you want.

I made a swap like you are trying to do years ago. I went to a tire store in the Minneapolis area and they cross referenced a late 70's or early 80's 16 inch Dodge pickup truck wheel with a new set of bias ply tires for a 1951 F3. They worked like a champ. The tire store in Bloomington, MN had a catalog that cross referenced alot of trucks, bolt patterns, wheel sizes, etc and helped him come up with a match. He called a local junk yard or other tire shop and sold me four rims that worked.

I guess it all depends if you want to stay with original wheels or go with something more modern but still stock in appearence.
