does that mean they would replace the 6.0? i heard of a V6 PSD TT and the V8 PSD both being an option on the Redesigned Superduty comin up in a couple of years. I know when the Low-Sulfer diesel comes out they are gonna introduce a V6 for the F-150 and Expedition. after this new diesel comes out we are supposed to se a crap load of new engines coming out through out the Auto Industry in the US.
It seems that Ford used to announce far in advance when a major retooling was scheduled. Maybe that is no longer the case.
I used to get a great magazine, "SUPERFORD" that would keep readers appraised of what concepts/designs were floating around dearborn long before the production was set up. I miss that magazine.
I heard from my buddy in Detroit (supplier to Ford) that Ford has given International their walking papers and that the inline 6 diesel has been put off further. Could be all BS, can anyone confirm.
ford already has a V-6 diesel. it is listed in the 2005 ford dealer source books. it is made by international and has twin turbos. it will be in the 2006 low cab forward trucks. i think they will use the same motor or a version of it in the f-150, expedition, etc. in the next few years sometime. ford has not said that they will use it in other applications yet.
like i said "i heard" so don't take my word for it. lol. But what do y'all think of the new cab over truck? i think it's practical, but just ugly in my mind.
Well, ford is also already running a twin-turbo V6 diesel in the Jaquars right now... here is what it is: 2,720cc twin-turbo V6 diesel engine: 153kW (206bhp) at 4,000 rpm; 435Nm (320 lb ft) torque at 1,900 rpm.
Here is the info from the ford website:
2.7 litre twin turbo diesel engine
Double overhead cams and electronically actuated twin turbochargers enable the lightweight 24-valve V6 diesel to deliver a heady 435Nm of torque. With more than 80% of maximum torque available from just 1,500rpm, this is refined power that makes for relaxed, high-speed cruising while keeping massive reserves for confident acceleration. With a maximum speed of more than140mph, and the ability to sprint from standstill to 60 mph in just over 8 seconds, the new S-TYPE diesel delivers true sporting performance.
So why can't they just drop this pup in the f-150? If this technology is coming.. I am sure we will see it one day in the Superduty.. how cool.
