Anyone know for sure if the next major retooling is going to be the 2007?
I have read that Dana (the chasis builder for SD trucks) and Ford are going seperate ways after 2006. It said that Dana wasn't profitting from the production due to Ford's penny pinching. So I would suspect that with the change in supplier, there will be a new SD in '07. Rumors from sources also indicate that the new SD will be available in mid '06.

Is Dana the Chassis builder for the F-150?
Who else would be able to produce several hundred thousand chassis per year for Ford? Boy, I would think the line workers for Dana may want a word or two on this one.
I think American Axle or something makes the Dodge and GM axles. I know for sure the same company is currently making them for the other two. Not too long ago a big four wheel drive magazine did an article with the Dana 60 versus the AA axle and it was an overall toss up.
Plan to see a twin turbo V6 IH diesel for the 2007MY trucks which will be out in mid 06 like earlier stated.
The big three have all asked Cat to build them a diesel engine for the 3/4 and 1 ton market, Cat has said NO! The Cat option in a F650 or F750 is over $10,000 extra, for $5,500 you can get the Navistar diesel. Parts and there price are the next issue why Cat would not work best in a light duty truck.
By 2007 what will a fully decked out SD diesel MSRP for? $60,000!!!
Looks like they took Dana away from Dodge perhaps there shooting for Ford next?
Although there are no volume modular production programs underway, American Axle says it is bidding on a couple of projects for the 2004-2006 time frame. o
Wouldn't mind a John Deere. A V-8 JD in a truck would be cool. or maybe A I-6. How about be rebels and put a I-8 into production on the truck market. lol. I-8 would be cool. that'd be a torquer for sure. 7.9 litre I-8. Thats what i'm talking about

As far as the cobra goes, they better have there party boots on because my 03 makes damn near 500RWHP and RWTQ so they better not let us down. I will be picking up my 05 SD in a few months. Gotta love the fords.
It has been rumored that Ford talked to John Deere, my Dad said he seen an article in the Kansas City Star about it. It said Ford looked at Detroit too. John Deere is rumored to be testing some engines in semi trucks, however most Deere engines in production now top out at 2200-2500 rpm and peak torque is usually around 1400-1500 rpm. Deere builds there own engines and they are used in farm equipment, construction equipment, irrigation pumps, and even in marine applications. They have one engine that runs off of natural gas that is used in busses and such. I don't know how the short RPM range would work in trucks, but it would be awesome to have a Deere green I-6 diesel under the hood. You could either go to the JD dealer for parts or the Ford dealer! It would be a hit for sure, I know I'd buy it.

Except for the ones the Yanmar makes for them. I'm not sure what the cutoff point is (I think it's up to 40HP), but the diesels in their compact tractors are made by Yanmar.
