i understand that.
but what i meant was that the chip does not directly give you more boost. it is just produced as you described and is an added benefit, not the mechanical result was what i was getting at. thanks
Im using the SuperChip with HP levels of 60 and 80. I have mine set on 80hp all the time, my truck 2000 F250 4x4 , 3.73 rear., 6inch lift on 35's. 4" downpipe, with 4" straight thru exhaust. K&N filter.I get 16-17mpg , 70-75mph at 2000-2200rpm Dry not pulling at all and 11-13mpg with 7000lbs trailer.
Sound right to you guys?
I noticed no difference in mpg between the 60 and 80hp levels
I love my SCMT, what can I say it kicks ***. Sooooooooooo much more power it is a huge difference. It should be noted I have an aftermarket intake and exhaust.
Yes 18vtx the boost increase is a byproduct of the added fuel. The turbo boost is mechanical and not electronicaly controlled by a chip or programmer.
Actually that's only partly true. The wastegate is indeed electronically controlled and one of the things we modify in our (Superchips Custom Tuning) tunes. Note that despite the name, we (SCT) are not the same as Superchips.

D.
i was talking to someone else and what you stated still does not actually add boost.
it gives back boost that was detuned by the factory. it was mechanically already there.
correct?

Well that's how a wastegate works. The original post said boost is not electronically controlled, which is an incorrect statement. We can increase it beyond factory levels simply by changing 1's and 0's so that by definition is electronically controlled. It does not "add" boost beyond what the mechanical system is capable of delivering, but it most certainly adds boost beyond what the factory tune has.
You have to remember unless that chip or any upgrade you put on gives at least 50hp to the wheels you wont notice a gain. Anything lower than 50hp is too small to give any physiocal signs of improvment. You also have to factor parasidic(?) loss, or the depletion of power through the drive train. Even though something may really give X amount of power it still has to be transfered to the ground. The bigger the truck the more power it take to move it, especially with a 4x4. My friend put a superchips tuner on his truck a 96 4x4 and it I didnt notice a diff, then again I dont drive it everyday. I will have to dyno it with the stock setting, then with the tuner and fill yall in on the results.
yeah the scmt is pretty awesome i like the diagnostic tool the most about it and i found that my truck likes it the best on tow safe, i mean ive noticed a little difference with the scmt i mean back when my truck was stock id barely beat ol monster350ford but now that i got the chip i can smoke the s*** out him
