Or at least that's what I was hoping for. I put ole #3 on the dyno last week here in South austin at Auto Tek. And before I tell you the #'s, let me tell you what drove me to this. I work with a good friend that has a 96 dodge 2500 4x4 w/ the 12v Cummins. And we always do battle. Well about a month ago, he popped a head gasket. He had cummins in dallas put another motor together for him. And I ain't gonna lie it's strong. And all he has is that fuel plate thingy. But he eats me up off the line, and I'm pretty sure I can't catch him in the 1/4 mile. But on the hiway with my gear vendors od it's a whole different story. At about 90 mph, it's bye bye dodge and he's a spec in the mirror. And I hate to say it but my dually does really well as far as handling over 100 mph. So anyway, we of course want to put it to bed for real. Either, dyno, or drag strip. The dyno was just easier for us because we're night shifters. So here's my stats and you tell me what you think.
96 PSD single cab dually
Tymar intake
3'" dp to 4" cat delete, to dual 5" stacks
FPR shim
10K mod
Hot pedal mod
Superchip 1705
139K miles
At this point, I feel my truck is pretty quick, and it is by all rights for what it is. But with all that, I only had 218 hp and 386 torque. I was sorely disappointed. I was thinking 250/450. Boy was I wrong. My dodge buddys pulled 294hp and 645 torque. I guess that settles that for now. So I'm selling my 1705 to a friend, and going with Tony Wildman's custom tuner. And of course I will let you know the dyno #s with it as well. But on a lighter note. I pulled twice, once with the 10k off and one on. The 10 consistently made 7 hp and 31 lbs/ft. Good mod for 99 cents. Just thought I would share that with yall.
your maxed out for stock injectors, you have pretty decent numbers you shouldnt be dissapointed. Also if you go with tony's programming you wont need 10k and more bc he can do all that with programming
I agree with lukecline, numbers are about right for what you're running. You can try propane injection as well. One way or another you're gonna have to get more fuel to make more power. Either bigger injectors or a shot of propane or nitrous. Let us know how you like TW's tuner, he does some good stuff.
No, it was a SRW. But I'm pretty sure we were not slipping on the rollers. The guy said the rollers only weighed 3750lbs. I don't know anything about dynos and if that's normal. I was under the impression that they set up the resistance on the rollers comperable to the weight of the vehicle. But again, I don't know.
do you have a boost gauge??? what did it say if so?? also what gear did you run in??
I dont remember if it is dynojets or mustangs but one has light rollers and the other has heavy ones and the lighter's wont load the trucks realy well, so you have to run in OD instead of direct, to get the boost up.
Cookie, I agree. But no matter what the dyno says, I can't beat him in the 1/4. And I'm damn sure not going to stop and pull duals everytime I want to race. The guys at work all say, "Those numbers are wrong because it's not at the motor." Well, my engine doesn't run on a stand, it's in my truck!!
444, they wouldn't let us drive our trucks on the dyno. So I couldn't tell you how much boost I was running. But I know it wasn't as much as it needed to be. And Yeah, I have a boost gauge. 2 5/8 Autometer pro comp liquid filled.

Yep, nothing counts except what happens in the real world. Dyno numbers, estimated HP, etc. doesn't mean squat if you can't prove it on the track!
