Top Speed

I race and do not know my top speed. I only know how fast I can go in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile. Flat out top speed I have NEVER done and NEVER will.

My top speed overall is 135 but thats on my CBR, I think I got my GTO (1970 with a old poopy chev350) up to around 120, but then the body started to uhh, come apart. Ever seen a fender flap? Not cool. Anyone got a welder for sale on that note?

I bet you could push these trucks faster if you could make the front less like a brick and more like a bullet. I always wondered how fast it could get up to if I fabricated some sort of front air damn....

I really hope you don't drive anywhere near Houston, Texas. People that do that on public roads scare the livin' ***** out of me, and I am sure that I am not alone with that feeling. Believe me, I am NOT afraid of speed or a smokey burnout, but that kind of speed (120+) on the public roadways just don't cut it!

You were lucky. I was driving from SD to SF on 101 in 1974 in a 1973 Corvette. I was stopped doing 80 in a 55 by the CHP. My car was impounded and the local judge was not a bit amused.

Got my new setup to around 100 felt nice and stable, I would have gone ***** out but but 100 will do fine.

So anyone good with tach math? I had my chevy cranked up 6k in 3rd one time, 3 speed manual trans with 3.73's. 2200is 55MPH, 2900 is 75MPH. I always assumed it was around 150MPH. Only did it once the truck sounded like it was going to fall into a million peices well the rear end and the transmission sounded like they were about to go nuclear.

My truck had a 100 mph speedo, no peg at 100 mph. I buried the needle back around at zero. 0 and 100 on that speedo are about 30 degrees apart.

82F1507.5, you must be putting out at least 400-450hp to run low 12's, and that is faster than 80 percent of the street legal vehicles out there.cause i know with my 82 with 350hp i should be able to run low 13's if i get the launch the perfect and don't miss a shift like i used to, but now i should be able to since i put the 3.25's and limited slip (was running 3.0 open) and new hurst shifter in.

Talking The wife makes me look bad

After tuning up the old '85 ford F-150, I told the wife I was taking it out on the interstate to see what she would do. Blowing down the ramp, I quickly had her tooling down the road with the speedometer peg at 85, passing everything in sight, felling pretty good about myself .......until ..........I see a red blur strip the paint of the side of my truck and a trail of dust as my wife streaks past me in her 92 Ford Probe, waiving and laughing as she disappears into the distance. So, I have taken steps to avoid this kind of spanking in the future. Now when I take the truck on a road test....... I take her keys with me!!!

i have an 1986 f150 with 31's and and inline 6. I had mine up to 96 or 97mph's(cant tell exactly because the speedo stops at 85) down hill. The reason it only got up to that was becuase i ran out of gear with my underdrive trans.
