exactly brown 4x4,
everyone claims they are experts and all but some have NEVER DONe what they do claim.Someone told me that everyone is an expert on the internet andI have would have thought that especaly (sp) true on this site. I do think that thier is about 40-50% truth on this site take everything with a grain of salt. Especialy the guy that claimed he pulled out an 18 wheeler grossing 88K that was berred to His axles with His little junky 02 4.6 F150
What a complete joke
You know who I'm talking about I know you will respond too.

The only way i knew how fast i was going when i pulled the 130mph run was the from the new sun pro tach i installed early that week when i got the exhaust done. But yeah i wish more people would would stick at least somewhat close to the truth when talking about top speed and the such, then we could get an actual idea of what something is truely capable off.

my truck does about 85-90 but i didnt hold it there very long but i think i could have. the Flat smooth turnpike here in oklahoma had to go 80 just to keep up with the big rigs, my ole truck rode like a dream though. Seems like in overdrive my powerband is about 70 and up. my truck is 2wd supercab longbed with a 300, overdrive tranny and 3.08 gears.

I can tell you 92 mph in my 84 F-250 with 4.10 rear. I know this because I had my garmin GPS on the dash.

Back in the early 70's, was in a 71 super bee 440 six pack that had 160 on a certified speedometer, and had it buried. They don't build em like that anymore!

Hey Dustin_86,
My '85 F150 302 EFI was clocked @ 95mph by local cops on a rural freeway. The truck was new then and my son was driving it. He said it was WOT in 3rd (direct) and wouldn't pull OD any faster(3.00 rear gear) They wrote him up for 75 in a 70mph zone. Cost him 2 points, $80.00 and 4weeks grounding.
Fastest stock truck I know of around here is a Dodge SRT 10. Brendan Gaughn(Nascar driver) drove one at the Chrysler track in Milford and got it up to 155.0 MPH On factory tires with the mirrors and radio antenna installed.

After i installed the 3.25's and limited slip today i took it out to run a few errands to test her out (no more one-wheelied wonder here), anyway i got delayed at my final stop by a good half hour and me, my brother, and my parents were going out to see some old friends for dinner and a movie, anyway there is a nice staight road (about a 5 mile stretch) and i decided that why not open her up and see what she'll do with them new gears, anywho i the tach said 5200rpm before i let off, too lazy to figure out that speed but i know that it was fastest i've been in my flare (its was still as smooth as glass)

I've gone over the 85MPH mark, but my normal cruising speed in my 80 F100 300IL6 is around 70mph. It handles that very well.

with my 84 f-150 4x4 300-6 4 spd and 3.55's w/ 30x9.50's, i generally top out around 70-75 going to and from work, for about a 2 mile stretch...just tryin to beat most of the traffic, if possible...truck takes it alright, too...it's a tired old truck, and i'm hopin to give her some more life this winter, w/ some new engine/front end parts....fastest i've ever gone, myself driving, was around 112 (that's where my g/f's 97 subaru legacy 4 door sedan governed out at)....in her chevy colorado, i think i've taken it to like 95, so far, and it handled that pretty dang well....her neon she had before the colorado, i didn't like past about 85...felt like it wanted to jump off the road w/ every little bump...

Where does anyone find room to top out a car or truck these days. Too much traffic everywhere I go and I live in what is supposed to be a rural area. Nothing like the old days where you could ride for miles and not see any traffic. As for how fast I used to be able to drive- when I worked on high performance cars for a living, I once ran a Pantera 170 on a straight back road because the owner was complaining about it cutting back over 160 on the track. I ran the 69 Mach1 mustang I owned to 150 on the back roads. Now adays 7 miles over the speed limit is about all I do because of the traffic. Nothing wrong with straight line acceleration from red light to red light though.

I live in Northern California, in Sonoma County, and there's lots of places here. Actually...most of the people driving on highway 101 these days go an average of 80-85mph, so it's very easy to go that fast on the highways since most people are doing that. If you go a little farther north, there's plenty of room on 101 to go faster than that, just have to watch out for the CHP.

I had to get somewhere quick and managed to get the needle pointing down on the H of the where it says MPH on the 85 mph speedo. I kept it there for a while too, the truck was amazingly stable.

Had a similar experience with a '78 F250 we used for a gooseneck trailer towing truck where I worked. It came with a 400"2V, 4 speed creeper, 4.10's. We added duals, edelbrock and a 750 Holley. Unloaded it ran like a rocket, when towing all that work made no difference what-so-ever

Anyway, one day we're coming back from the next town and I could tell we were moving right along. The guy who's driving says, "How far does this go?". I asked what he was talking about and he pointed at the speedometer ... the needle was moving toward the ten thousands position on the odometer! I commented at this speed and with 4.10 gears the engine was more at risk than the speedometer!

Personal best high speed: 137 mph, 67 Ford Galaxie sedan with a 427 under the hood and a four-beam red rotary light on the roof

Every vehicle I've ever owned has been at max speed at least once, except my '97 Suburban. That big tub starts to rock corner to corner at about 95 on the speedo and I chicken out. My '84 F150 reg.cab long box 2wd AOD with 351W goes well past the 85 on the speedo, my wife ran next to me on the interstate with our '02 Bonneville and she said we were pulling 105. That's a car I'd like to see without the rev limiter, it hits it hard at 117. I had a '75 Chevy Silverado with a 350 that the local cop clocked me at 110, he was going way faster in his Crown Vic, caught me fast! We laughed about it a few years later. He wrote a note to the judge, cost me just a Reckless Driving ticket. Also had among other things a '86 Dodge Daytona 5spd that did 105, now that was a ride.
