'04 F-350 CC DRW......Has anybody had any problems with their Sun/Moon roof leaking? I know there is a tray to catch any drips but this thing has a rivelet of water running in the one corner everytime I put on the brakes when it's raining. The dealer says it's normal.....Me? I Don't think anything is supposed to leak.Let me know what the fix might be... THANKS !!!
I have no problems with mine. Are you letting the window cycle fully to the closed position? I can see where it would be easy to stop short of the closed position, which would cause leaking.
I'm with you. It shouldn't leak and your dealer needs to show you where FMC says it is normal to leak.
JimR.....Yes, I'm letting it cycle completely. Guess I will have to fine tune adjust it to get it to close tight. There are 4 screws that allow me to adjust the up/down and a slight forward position. If you open your sunshade(interior headliner) and shine a flashlight from the outside, can you see light coming thru where the gasket meets the sheet metal? I can.
I had a problem with it starting to leak on a '97 Expedition I had. There are some drain holes in the channel that seem to get clog'd up. I took a air hose and blew out the drain lines. Didn't leak again after that.
I havent worked on one of these moonroofs yet but most cars have drain holes that are attatched to hoses that run down a piller and outside somewhere.(usually one on each front corner) Those hoses sometimes come loose, so I would loosen the interior parts enough to check behind your headliner and make sure they are connected properly. 9 times out of 10 its the drain hose and not the seal on the roof. And its definately not normal to leak, I cant believe a dealer would say that. I guess rust, mold, and bad stench would be normal too.
The seal wasn't tight on my Expedition either. To me it looked like the system was designed with the fact that they knew it would leak. So they added mini trench (for lack of a better word ) around it with drain holes. I could always hear water move around a bit up there.
