Code Alarm is made by DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) Code Alarm is sold at the new automotive dealership level. GM even has Code Alarm, I installed the DEI unit with just the remote start, no door lock or alarm unit using the factory remote, I have access to remote start, door locks and auto shutdown all from using the factory Ford remote, the only drawback which is not a problem from me is the usable remote distance, factory remote will not work much past 50ft. I use the door unlock mode to start the engine, doors can be remotely relocked after startup.
Care to specify your 100% true findings? I am alittle amiss by your comment... or does Code Alarm make DEI, what are the chances of seeing Code Alarm and DEI side by side, part for part and be the same item, how is it I put down here what I see first hand with my own eyes, and someone always has a tendancy to just give some short phase of supposedly wrongness without saying stipulation of reason, get with the program! Is there a third party that makes both of these, makes them both look the same. In the same plastic box, same connectors, same everything, component for component, does it really matter, I have never seen Code Alarm sold through any dealer network except on brand new cars from the dealers, do you want to beat that one also without explanation, sooory if I am wrong and you are right, but if you are right, speak up dude and place it on the table, don't just spit out and state what you know is wrong, lead us to the truth, or you don't know what the truth is?
First off I want to apologize for not specifying earlier. I saw the post, but didn't have time to reply in length, so I threw out a quick one-liner until I could come back. Just wanted to add something in quick so too many people didn't get misled. Anyway moving on..
DEI is not made by Audiovox.
Audiovox is not made by DEI.
Audiovox owns Code Alarm.
The closest thing to being true here is that the new Code Alarm "Elite" series is made by the same company (not DEI) that makes the Viper line for DEI. Offhand I can't think of the companies name but I am thinking possibly New Tech or something alone those lines. I should have it in my notes somewhere if your really interested. It is straight from the Code Alarm rep.

Not sure what area you live in, but Code Alarm is sold at Circuit City, a major chain store. It is also sold at a ton of smaller specialty shops. The "Code Alarm" on the cars from the dealers is installed by the smaller specialty shops. Dealerships (in most cases) don't do installs. Also normally the dealerships don't get the code alarm piece, they get their branded piece such as the "Ford" system. Sure it is the same piece and still code alarm, just branded specifically for Ford.
This is similar to the way DEI used to (not sure if they still do) produce the keyless entry and alarm systems that were branded as AC Delco products.
I have erased my comment eight times already, not going to do it again, If Code Alarm is and has never been made by DEI, then DEI must have filled a GM order for Code Alarm, it is the only other way that DEI kept it name on the Code Alarm paperwork, and was IDENTICAL slot for slot as the DEI unit, if it is not that way today, so be it, but I can assure you, Code Alarm was on the paperwork as DEI on the bottom right. Here are my favorite words to bite me, NEVER ASSUME!
