Air powerd jacks?

I was thinking, Does anybody make a jack that can attach to compressed air, and you can jack up a car with that? that would be prety neat to have around, just put it under the axel, open a valve.

or am I just too lazy to use a floor jack?

YES, they do. Can get them where semi-trucks tools are sold.

torin and harbor freight make nice ones for about 150.00 you need a big compressor if the pressure drops below 125 psi the jack can lower

Just remember, if you find one in a price range you like...make sure it's an air-actuated hydraulic unit. There ARE air only units out there. I don't think I'd trust just air to pick up a truck in any other than an emergency situation. (i.e. recovery bags.)

Something I've seen in a shop setting that you may like...a stationary hydraulic pump with lines to heavy floor jacks and hydraulic presses.

The air over oil jacks are really loud. I used one to make my own version of a "Tube Shark" bender for a friend. The only times he can use it (in his attached garage) is when the wife and 2 toddlers are out of the house.

Check out this web site (www.norcoind.com/norco/index.htm). I have used air lifts like this before but that was back in the day when cars still had real bumpers to lift from. I only used this type of lift to change tires and brake jobs but never work under the vehicle. They do not operate smoothly like hydraulic because vehicle weight effects how much air pressure is needed to build up before the vehicle will rise. Always used jack stands with this type of lift.

Even though they have locks on them I would not feel safe lifting a vehicle by the bumper or even supporting a vehicle only at the front and rear.

Northerntools.com carries the hydraulic/air powered bottle jacks. About $100 with about a 20 inch lift.

Talking

I have an air powered jack I use to lift my trucks. i LOVE it cause i dont have to leave enough room to pump the handle of a 'traditional' jack. it is rated at 20k, so I know there is a great safety margin. Mine does not lower itself if the airpressure goes below 125, as can disconnect the air supply altogether and it stays up just fine.
I bought mine for $50 or so from one of those traveling tool shows, so any warranty I consider no good anyways. but for the price, and the fact that I have had it 2 years already with no problems justifies that.
I cant remember the name brand off the top of my head, but they sell the same thing at Northern Hyd. but about twice the price.
hope this helps

I have an older Gray brand air jack that I bought at a service station auction about 5 years ago. It cost me $125 and I love it, it will lift the front of a 4x4 pickup no trouble, it has pads that will go under the bumper or the frame. Probably will lift about 30" high, it has safety latches that catch as it goes up.
I don't know if the company is still in business, but it was made in St. Joe Missouri.
