I have been told to reset the computer after making any changes to the airflow or fuel management, etc. To do this you need to disconnect your negative battery terminal. I believe you are supposed to keep it disconnected for approx. 15 mins. This resets the computer and when you hook it back up, you are supposed to let the truck idle for several minutes. There are several other steps involved, but I'm not sure what. They are more related to your truck learning idle speed, such as letting the truck idle with no accessories running, then turning on the accessories and let the truck idle. You might find this process in the owner's manual, or if someone knows what I'm talking about maybe they can clue you in.
hey Matt, thanks for your reply. What is a kkm true rev ???I had origionally wanted a 2000 4 liter like you have but could not find one in northern ca,so after a good deal proposalon the 2001 I jumped on it.(19,500)I wonder why K&n doesn't make the fipk for the 3 liter?this engine just feels like it wants to "get it on"but for some reason can't.otherwise this truck is very compfortable to drive and feels more solid than the chevy and toyota that I test drove
Yeah I agree. The 3.0L makes alot of noise like it wants to go, but doesn't. I had a '99 w/ the 3.0L, and was rather disappointed. I did put a KKM True Rev induction kit on it and noticed a little difference. I didn't have an exhaust system on it though, so I think it would have helped if I did. Right now K&N doesn't make a FIPK for anything past '97. I don't know why some marketing genius didn't think it was worth developing for the #1 selling compact pickup truck for the past 10 years!
kkm true rev max induction system is similar to the fipk from k&n it's just a different filter and it's not emissions legal in some states, so just check on your state if your subject to emissions restrictions.
