I have a 2000 ford F250 S.D. 4x4 Standard cab with the 5.4 V8.
On the right side of the engin the studs are broken flush with the head on 3 out of 4 on the bottom of the exaust manifold. I talked to my mechanic and he said he would have to pull the heads and drill and tap new studs. The question I have is how much difference in power and fuel milage would I see if i replaced the stock exaust manifolds with ceramic coated shorty headers and ran an H pipe and duel exaust. I found the headers on Summit for 426.00 but they did not list a h pipe. for my truck anyone know where I could find one?
if I had all this done would I feel a noticable diffrence in performance?
Thanks,
Jeff
Also he said 1800.00 to do the job is this a good price?>
I had my whole exhaust system replaced except for the manifolds. I hear if you go with headers, you will change the sound/noise level of your exhaust (louder and able to hear the flow of the gases) If you don't care about the noise level, it might be worth it to you. I was told that the stock cast irons actually do a decent job since I had the Y pipe, Cat's and mufflers replaced. I can't give numbers, but I did feel an increase in power. No real difference in MPG's though. The replacement of the system to a dual with free flowing mufflers and cat allows a 100% increase in gases being pushed out.
Let us know what you decide. Also, there is a post somewhere that addressed those exhaust studs.
