I've been using it since the 0.8 release and love it. Previously I used Mozilla, but like Firefox better because it feels lighter and faster. Firefox runs great on both my Windows and Linux machines.
And tabbed browsing is the best thing since sliced bread...
I disagree about the anti-virus not seeing Java. Three days ago my AVG anti-virus found a .class virus file that was buried in another file in my Temporary\Internet Files folder. Even when I did a file search for the file it said it saw, it came up with nothing. I ran the A/V two more times and it saw it again. I looked around in that folder and saw some files that got picked up by a web site I was suspicious about and deleted them, virus gone.
I'm running Firefox also. I like it for the most part. It's a little slower on my PC though. There are some sites it can't open, and some downloads that require plugins. I have not used a pop-up stopper (other than the one it comes with) at all, and I used to run 3. Also nothing picked up on virus scans since I started. My biggest complaint is that I can't figure out how to make email links work. When I click on one, like on a site or a message board, it automatically opens with IE even though Firefox is my default. The first time that happened I got slammed with about 2 minutes of popups, viruses, and DL agents before I could get the stupid IE closed and run a scan to clean up the mess.
For most apps, Firefox is great though. I got the newest one.

You can fix that by opening My Computer, click Tools ----> Folder Options, then the File Types tab. Select anything in the list that has the Internet Exploder icon next to it, and change it to Firefox. Problem solved.
My Mozilla handles multiple user logins to a site better than the vesion 0.9.1 of Firefox I have so I use it for my regular browser. I have everybody else on my machine set up to use FireFox. I also use Firefox on all the computers I set up for people.
I use Thunderbird for my Email.
Most sites work with Mozilla or Firefox but there are a few that require IE.
Firefox is teh shiznit
I don't seem to have the same plugin problem some of you are having.
I just went to macromedia.com and DLd flash player 7.
my favorite thing to use with Firefox is my forums..I have a folder on my bookmark bar and in that I keep al the links to all the forums I post on (17 at the moment) then everyday when I have time i click on the folder and at the bottom I choose "open in tabs" and it opens and logs into each forum in a different tab......then I just go thru them......
I only use IE if I have to...like on heavily flashed sites
