Ok, after using IE forever, it <!pi**ed>ticked me off for the last time... Now i got a few questions about mozilla...
1. I went to their website...do i download the FireFox or the Mozilla 1.7.3 or are they the same?
2. Is it Free?
3. Is Mozilla really better than IE? If so, how?
1. Switching is easy. When I downloaded it I think I clicked Firefox, but it also downloaded Mozilla. I think they go hand in hand. At the top of my pages where it used to say IE it says Mozilla Firefox.
2. Yeap, totally free
3. As far as it being better, I dont know "facts" on how its better but IMHO I think it is better. I have had A LOT less probelms with Firefox than IE. No pop-ups, and a lot less spyware/viruses. Its nice too cause when you install it you can bring all of your stuff from IE (like bookmarks and the like) and it gets transferred to Firefox. To me it is just a lot nicer and smoother, and you can also have all of your windows opened on one page, just in tabs at the top. Its nice.
Mozilla has almost no security holes, IE has so many the code looks like swiss cheese. IT's truly sad the a the computer world revolves around a company that made (and still makes) millions on ripped off software.
I dont miss IE either, the only thing i dont like about Firefox is for some reason it cant find plug ins, which is fine with me. But i also cant find a good deal to download for movies or anything like that. But its all good, alot better than IE and i havent had a single pop up since i deleted IE and got Mozilla.
Mozilla is a full feature browser with email and an editor built into it. To just browse the Internet Firefox is all you need. I have not had any difficulties with plug ins tho. You can always use IE to bring up something weird if required. There are several more threads here on the subject along with information on a spelling checker plug in.
I use both Mozilla and Firefox. They are both free, no sponsored ads, no pop-ups, no software installs, no headaches.
I am using Firefox also. Ther is a Mozilla browser/mail client that is different. I would suggest the Firefox and change your mail client from Outlook (another security hazard) to Thunderbird.
My last computer upgrade I went with Mozilla and have never looked back since. It loads faster(mainly because of less software bloat) and it works much better, IMHO. Internet Exploder has shown up on unused icon warnings.
Switched this machine (home) to Firefox last night. I _had_ thought my DSL was "stalling" - no it appears that it was an MSIE problem (which has now gone away).
Except for accessing my company email server (Outlook Exchange), so far Firefox seems to be working flawlessly. Exchange prompts me for my password and login incessantly - but I'm still a happy camper. Using Yahoo for a mail server, so no comments on Mozilla.
