Have just downloaded Firefox 1.0, and I think its great

Who else here is using it?
What do you think of it?
Where do you think improvements can be made? I can't think of any, its so much more user friendly than IE

Just downloaded last night so I don't have any real feel for it yet but I like what I see so far. Same with Thunderbird mail client.

I have been using it for a few weeks now, and other than it likes to crash on my email for this site, it is great. It blocks a lot of spyware crap, don't have to remove half as much as I used to with IE

I don't have the email problem since I use Outlook Express. But I agree with you on the spyware. I don't have to remove near as much either. Great browser though.

the CERT (computer emergency response team) which is a new department in the department of homeland security recommended that you quit using IE and that firefox was a good one. they released this alert several weeks ago and i started using firefox then. it is nice to use for untrusted sites because it doesn't run java script. the newer more malicious viruses are going to run in java which is wide open to your system if you are using IE. and virus scan programs don't scan java. but if you like the little games on yahoo or msn or anywhere really you will have to run IE on those sites. which those sites are pretty well trusted so not a big risk there but in unknown territory you are flirting with disaster if you are using IE. i don't kow if anyone really wanted to know about this but in case you were curious what the fuss was all about, here you go.

Thumbs up

I have been useing Firefox 0.8 since about July and absolutely LOVE it! any of you use the older version and upgrade to 1.0? any differences? the only thing I dont like about Firefox is that it opens a port and acts as a server for some strange reason, not sure why but I am not too concerned about it because it is just about the best tabed no ad showing browser out there. I too also would like to know how to make sound work in it though... I looked for the plugin a while back but I dont remember what I found..... but I still think THE ORANGE LIZZARD RULZ!

I use Mozilla Firefox pre-1.0 build, and I enjoy it until I come to an incompatible site. Then having to fish out IE again is a pain in the rear. Also, I wish that it would open all windows in a new tab..rather then opening a completely new browser window all together. But..I enjoy it. And it is genuinely faster. Never faults on me, either. I'll upgrade sometime..but no real hurry.

Yeah, I agree, what is it with sites that can't keep up with technology

At least FTE is up with it

That would be a great option, so you can keep all relevant pages within the one window

I actually downloaded 1.0 today, and it works great on this system. I had tried to run it on my old computer, with less than marginal results. Looks like Mozilla handles all of my internet needs now.
