Head guide?

Tried searches, cant find anything relevant....Anyone know of a good web-site, or book for information on head swaps? have a 302, want to throw some 3511w heads on it if i come across any, and just want to know a little more information about it all before i do it...Any help is appreciated..Also, any good member sites, or reference sites for ford small blocks around?

Food for thought, Most of the performance oriented heads that were put on the 351w's were also put on the 302's, actually the 302 one upped the 351w when they put the gt40P heads on them. What year engine are you working on? Are you wanting aftermarket or stock cylinder heads?

Thanks for the stang link Mustang..ill have to look, got a few stangs in town anyways...

The motor is a swap....havent looked for casting numbers yet, but should be a 68-74 motor in it....Trying to find some stock heads that i could port n polish, slap on a stock 302 bottom end, and throw a little 144 blower on it, pushing only 3 lbs of boost for regular driving during the summer, and strip racing in a 3000 pound vehicle...i learned alot about the 400 with my 79, time to learn about small blocks, then fe, then big blocks. Thanks again for the responses

the 351W heads you're looking for are the early castings from 69 to about 75. The later ones are the same as the 302's. Early ones had slightly larger ports and valves than the 302's.

Actually the gt-40 (put on some 302 and 351w's) and gt-40p (only put on 302 explorer/mountaineers), flow better than the 69-70 351w heads, on the intake and exhaust, small amount but its better.

Thanks for the input...im wanting to learn the basics about porting and polishing...so i might buy a bare set of heads, or pull a complete set off a 302 at a salvage yard, and try to learn...ofcourse, if there is a casting number that is a better head, id want those...but im not sure if there is or not...Thanks again for the info, links, and input.
