What about those hood locks you see in L M C or Dennis Carpenter? Any good?

Thanks for the parts source suggestions. I'm anxiously awaiting a new LMC catalog for the older trucks... since I previously owned a 76 and 78, all I had were the 73 - 79 parts catalogs. I will check on NPD also.

So far, no repeat thefts of stuff from my truck, I'm really paranoid the carb or under dash stereo will vanish next.

Remember those hood locking posts the hod rod guys had on thier cars back in the 60's. You mounted them on the inside of the hood and then there was a chrome piece that went on the hood in the corners. You could put padlocks on them. Can you even get such a thing anymore?

DarkWolf40, those posts that you're talking about were usually on muscle cars. Some actually came from the factory with those. I think they were mostly for looks, although functional. However, some race cars actually used them to hold the hoods down because they didn't use hood hinges. Anyway, I bet you can still get aftermarket ones at JC Whitney or you can look through something like a Year One catalog.

actually mr gasket makes some as do a few other suppliers they are available and if you drill them out some you can put a lock on them. they will be hard to use on the trucks though because the posts are only about 5" long.

I have a secondary hood release on my 1967 Ford F250. It is attached to the main hood release but operated by a cable that is routed into the cab and a pull **** installed directly to the left of my choke ****. It does not appear factor as the **** is not the same as all my others.

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about where this came from. I've removed the pull cable and **** from the dash as it has a broken cable. But I'm now thinking I should find a new cable and see if I can put a factory style **** on there.

It's not original, Ford didn't offer a locking hood latch until 1978. It could be retrofitted to 1973/77's, but it won't work on 1972 and earlier.

Locking hood latch same: 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco, 1978/91 Econoline // Locking hood latch cable same: 1975/76 Granada/Monarch, 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco.

I'm posting photos of my secondary hood latch release on a 1967 Ford F250. It has a cable that was run into the cab and a control in one of the dash holes next to the choke. You pull this and it unlocks. Then you can use the primary hood release as normal.

Any ideas what this is off of?

In looking this over, the lock looks fabricated from a door hinge and not something that was from a different Ford.

It really is clever. Just push it in and it's locked. Pull and, voila, can open the hood. So perfect. I'm definitely going to keep this modification. Especially since I'm putting two new AGM dual purpose batteries inside, and just bought a brand new left side (drivers) battery tray off eBay.
