Hello I was wondering does anyone know how we can lock the hood on one of our trucks? I have a aquired a nice 65 F100 and I would like to keep it. Sorry I am new and I finally found the search engine.

AZmadman, Welcome to FTE Glad you found your answer, don't be a stranger, stick your head in the door and say hello. We try to be both helpful and friendly here.
I have been working to see if I could put a cable release on my hood like the new cars and trucks have. Haven't got it figured out yet. On my truck I put a car alarm on it with a hood trigger that would go off the second the hood was released. It has saved me alot.
There is plenty of area behind the grill. A popular lock is to drill a 3/8" hole in the secondary saftey latch and insert your favorite lock. I have this on my sons F250 and have not missed a battery yet. Excellent deterrent for the urban rifraf.
That is the method I used on my 65, Drill the hole add the lock and your done. I used a standard Master lock. It even held the hood shut when I got hit in the front end by a bowtie the blew a stop sign.
The alarm thing is not a bad idea. You can buy an alarm unit that is very small and simply has two wires running straight to the battery and a remote control. No bunch of wiring to mess with. I got one and just hooked it up and threw it behind the battery with no mounting and it does fine. It has sensitivity settings to keep the thing from going off for no reason in a noisy area like a mall parking lot. Also it senses current flow change caused by an interior light coming on due to an open door. Yes I know our slicks dont have door activated interior lights.
The best thing is that the product is around $30 if memory serves me correctly.
I have three or two complete inside cable release systems that I have harvested, and I will get around to putting one of them on one day. I know that I will.
I would love to have an electric push button system like the trunk release on my Taurus.
