Got it towed today. Would not start. It turns over a few times but then it almost sounds like its out of time. Last time it did this I let it sit all night and it started fine the next morning. This time it left me stranded at work. Has anyone else experienced this problem? 03 KR 6.0 PSD 4WD
Hope that I hear something tomorrow. By the time the wrecker got there tonight the dealership was closed upon arrival. Truck has 20,286 miles on it. Hope that I can get the bugs worked out before the factory warranty retires.
The dealership replaced the fuel injection control module, reprogrammed the PCM and TCM using WDS. Starts okay now. What's PCM and TCM stand for? What's a WDS. If they reprogrammed the PCM and TCM do they mean that they actually changed code or did they just reflash the modules?
PCM=PowerTrain Control Module, TCM=Transmission Control Module. WDS is the Ford computer program system. The FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) is closely integrated with the PCM and TCM. So yes they had to have the firmware (flash) reinstalled. They installed the latest firmware (flash).
With this reflash will my truck see a decrease in mileage and power? I did think that it was a little louder when I picked it up. I've read other post where other owners experienced these problems.
I just got the latest one for the 03's. I think the lower end response and accelerator pedal response has improved. It feels more like it did when I bought it. I am still running it to see if there is an increase in mpg.
