<DIR>I sold my 95 7.3 PSD and bought the 03 6.0 PSD earlier in April, used with 11,115 miles on it.
Lift, rims and tires are done, exhaust, gauges and Predator programmer. The Tow/Haul switch was replaced and the float for the fuel-sending unit wedged into the top of the top of tank, Dealer did an R&R with new design and also replaced the fuel filters with the warranty claim.
This weekend I winterized the truck, wash, wax, packed the rims off to storage. Pictures are in my gallery for anyone to take a sneaky peeky..
I am celebrating 20K miles on the truck this week and I want to thank all the FTE regulars who have had to put up with me so far…
I just head for the shop in the winter, building a new car for the 2005 season. All the snow ends up in the fence rows around here, so other than being cold....
Well....205K miles to go I see, but I am wondering what 07 holds, and as far as Cat getting into the light trucks I have heard no.
I hope not; I'd just as soon see them hold onto the V-8 design.
I hear alot of people complain about the V-8 diesel, claiming that an I-6 is superior for torque and pulling heavy loads, since the semi's use them. People need to keep in mind these trucks are not semi's- if you are pulling a load that actually requires a low-rpm governed, large-displacement Inline-6 cylinder wet-sleeved engine, you have a truck with the WRONG CHASSIS, not the wrong engine. The V-8 design is much more well suited for the comparitively "light" loads designed for the Superduty, and I would be severly disappointed to see it go...
As a matter of fact, I would really like to see an 8-cylinder boxer turbo diesel...
Cat also built some V-8s that were less then you would expect.....
Took them a while to figure out the difference between a motor that runs against a governor all day long turning a bunch of hydraulic pumps, and a motor that runs over the road under constantly changing conditions.
Gotta say though, they have come a long way, and build some fine motors now.
