cb mount??
I just bought a Cobra Cb for my 87 ranger and can not find a place for it. I would put it in between the steeringwheel and the glovecompartment but there is not room. Plus, if i did, i could not take the mic off to talk. also the wires that go to the fuse box and ground are short so i have to put it somewhere close. any suggestions on what i should do??

cb mount??
I've mounted mine overhead in an 83, ran the antenna thru the roof about center, extended the wires with crimp type butt splicers and ran them down the channel inside the trim piece to the fuse box. This kept the mike within easy reach and made for a "clean" installation. Mine is a little cramped down at the dash also. One alternative for the antenna is to use a consealed unit, nothing more than a duel plug arrangement with one side for the radio and another for the CB which uses the FM antenna in the stock location. cb mount??
I had the same problem with my Ranger. Considered putting it on top but didn't want to.So we tried something a little unusual. I mounted it under the dast in front of the stick shift using foam tape on the mount to hold it up. I've had it mounted for about six months now and have not noticed any problems with it slipping or falling off.

Here is a GOOD way to install a cb in a ranger. Install it in front of the stick. Use longer screws (in place of the ones that secure the shifter boot)to hold your cb bracket. Brace the bracket where the dash support bolt is (infront of the shifter) with a steel bar. To gain extra clearance behind the cb you can get a 90 degree fitting from a radio supply shop. I built a custom antenna mount in front of the hood. I made the mount bolt to existing unused threaded holes near the hood release. It is supported below by my fog light brackets. To add fog lights without drilling holes, just make 90 degree brackets that secure (between the bumper and the grill) to front bumpers upper mounting bolts. It took about a day to make the cb mount bracket, the antenna mount, the fog light mounts, the antenna support bar, and to install it all. It works good, and no holes needed to be drilled into the truck.

cb mount??
If it helps,
I have a Northstar 3000 (same thing as a Galaxy 33) mounted in my 95 Ranger. I removed the ashtray and it fits in the void. It's mounted up at a 45 degree angle, and the mic cord goes around in front of the shifter to the clip on the other side of the CB.
I know the interior is different, and I'm not sure where the ashtray is in your truck, but that may be a possible option if you don't use your ashtray.
