Rear end/Transmission
Hi Everyone,
I'm brand new to the site and would like to start by saying a few things about myself... First I'm a Huge Ford guy, always have and always will be. Right now I have a 1987 5.0 Thunderbird that I plan on modifing. For my other project I have a 1990 4.0 Ranger that my Father gave to me after he beat the Sh!@ out of it. It is 2 wheel drive right now. My plans for it are simple... I am doing all the work myself including the bodywork and am going to convert it to 4 WD and put a few performance things into it. For the most part it will be a decent truck that looks good, performs well, but can still be driven in the winter when my car is in away.
Sorry for being so long winded.... My question is what size rear end do the 1990 4.0 Rangers use and also what is the code for the automatic transmission. (AOD,etc.)

I'm not really that familiar with rangers except for my 89 model. Mine has a 7.5 rear end but I think in 90 the 4.0s came with an 8.8 rear end.
