I have a 1992 E150 van, the blower stopped working, I have checked the blower and it is ok, the switch on panel fell apart in my hands when I went to pull the connector off of it, it is crispy. I am going for a new switch and pigtail tomorrow but I checked for voltage at the switch wires and had zero. It has a 4 position switch with four wires coming in at the pigtail. the switch is marked (low,-,-,high) no off position. with the control set to heat shouldn't I have votage at one of the wires in the pigtail?
I would think you would have voltage at one wire with pigtail disconnected. The switch just grounds the circuit by selecting a different path from the resistor. So if the blower motor is ok and the power to it is ok the flow is thru the blower motor to the resistor and then to the switch.
Nitro...I have not got voltage at the blower motor, but I did check it to be sure it was good, I was wondering about the switch being the ground point for the resistor though, four wires and a four position switch didn't leave anywhere for power to start. My wife said the blower was only running at certain speeds before it went, so I guess I will have to track down the resistor tomorrow. Late day at work today so no switch tonight anyway.
