The wiring to the steering wheel has no contacts, it is done by a roll of flat wiring called the clockspring, wraps up in one direction under the steering wheel as the wheel is rotated in the one direction and unwraps in the other direction, the clockspring wiring breaks from the lubricant that is used at the factory gets to thick and causes the wiring to not separate when the wheel is turned, causing the roll of wiring to snap. The clockspring operates everything on the steering wheel including the air bag. Clockspring is serviced as a complete unit. Takes no longer than an hour to install.
