I have an '04 Super Duty CC, 6.0L and want to lift truck 4" or so with 35's. I've heard that Pro-Comp has really improved their springs. I like the look of a 4" lift, not sure about 4.5"....probably not much difference. Any experience with either one of these lifts? Is there much difference between the two? What is your preference, or any other suggestions on lifts??
I can not speak for the Pro Comp lift. I can tell you that I am on my second vehicle with the Edge lift 4.5"and love it. They cost a bit more but the ride is great and the components are of high quality from the fabrication to the powder coating. I have had mine on a Excursion and now own my SD PSD 04'. I suspect that the extra .5" helps truley clear the 315's. Not one single complaint. I say stick with quality. GO EDGE.....
Check out my gallery , there are a few pics with the lift on. Good luck.

I have the Donahoe Racing 4.5" hanger and shackle on my truck. I like them, very well built. Installing them on a stock truck will give you the lift without affecting spring rate.
I also run the 4" Deaver springs used by Donahoe Racing. 12 leaf pack, made in the USA, and are pretty soft since the pack doesn't have much arch to it.
Seriously, Pro comp is the biggest pile of crap on the planet and anyone that tells you otherwise is an idiot. I can't believe they are still allowed to pimp that garbage. What a waste of time and manufacturing. If they GAVE me their stuff to run on my Buggy or my truck I still wouldn't run it unless it came with a healthy stipend. Remember, too, that Edge stuff is much more expensive than just about everybody else as well so examine all your options. Stay away from Chassis Tech, truckin, Rancho and some others that I can't think of right now.
You want trouble? I'll give you trouble, white hairy monster.
I agree with cwb, pro comp sucks a fat one. I have their 6.5 inch kit and it rides like a turd.... I wanna put edge springs on it eventually but they're like twice the price of the procomp ones. So for now, I drive a big turd...
I have the Edge 6", all spring. I can't compare to any other lift out there since it's the only one i have experienced but I am satisfied with the ride quality. It's definitely a lot stiffer than stock and the ride will about jar your teeth out on the freeway but all in all it's an excellent ride.
yep.. pro crap.. tuff country.. superlift... and im sure some others.. are in the mass production... cheapest cost to build... so yes.. their crap will lift your junk.. and keep it there.. but they ride like ***... you want a good quality lift.. then you will have to pay for it one way or the other.. now i havent had the edge kit.. but that is the one i will put on my truck.. what i do have is a lot of experience in off road... i have a jeep that i have modified myself for some 10 years.... and over those years.. i have come up with some opions on manufactures.. and no matter what type of vehicle.. they are usually the same across the board.. skyjacker is a good manufacture.. i havent seen their SD stuff.. but for the smaller vehicles.. they kick ***.. so im sure they would offer good quality products across the board...

Ignorant people make me sick.
... Please mr. jeepgod, explain to me why superlift is "crap". Seriously if you are willing to make a comment like that I hope you have a good reason for it. Have you run a superlift on your superduty?
I don't have experience with them on other stuff as I run skyjacker on my jeep, but I do run a superlift 8" system on my SD and am really at a loss as to why you would call it crap. And ride like ***? Again, do you run or have you riden in a SD with the Superlift Selects?

Quadsand: your looking at a spring kit vs a hangar kit.. the hangar retains your stock spring.. do a little read and decide what you want, if you decide hangars are for you there are over a billion companines that now sell them in anysize you want, there is even a guy who just custom makes them and sells them on ebay for less than $200, there just welded together 1/4 steel sheets that hold your springs at both ends 4"(or whatever) lower to give you lift.. fabtech has a 3.5" hangar, RCD has 2" and 4", truckin suspesion has 2-10" hangars... the list goes on... first decide whether you want new springs or a hangar kit, then look into what brand.. i think "Mass Production companies" such as superlift etc... which use computerized welding.. on the same grade of 1/4" steel as everyone else.. are just as good as quality as the next guy... The kits that could be presumed to be more effective are the hangar kits that come with a one-peice rear shackle instead of a drop bracket for the stock shackle, the longer moment gives more leverage and allows the spring to move more... so they say, ive had both, the one piece now and wouldnt bet i could really tell the differance?...
good luck
JJ
ps.. i got a couple sand machines to and will be moving to phoenix here in about a year, lets hang at GLAMIS!..
All of you, thanks for your input. I agree with Jetjock16, I have to decide wether to go with a hanger kit or spring kit. Again, I've heard that the early hanger kits caused problems creating "clunks" and other noises over time. It may be the most efficient way to lift a truck ($$), but I like the idea of having nothing but springs doing the lifting. I definately don't want to sacrifice ride quality if I don't have to, and I want stay around the 4" height. It sure is interesting to hear the slamming against Pro-Comp. It's hard to believe that if they are that bad they would still be in the business of spring lifts. Do any of these guys give garantees on their springs against sagging? Anyway, sounds like we have many members here that are fans of the Edge systems. How much more can I expect to spend? I guess I can do a little net searching and answer that question. Thanks again for your input.
Jetjock16 - let me know when your next trip to Glamis comes around..
