Ranger Lift Question

Have a 92 Ranger Reg cab (2WD), right now I have 215/70/14's on. I want to put 31/10.5/15's on it with 15x8's.

To do this I know I need a lift. Would a 2" Daystar Leveling Kit for the front and 2" Rough Country blocks for the back work? This is just for looks, the truck just does daily driving.

If it isn't enough would I be able to fit 30/9.5/15's on it then with that lift?

Thanks.

Ranger Lift Question

I would use a 3" body lift. They should fit then.

Good Luck!

Post Ranger Lift Question

I have a 1997 Extended cab. I recienty put 30x950 R15, BFGoodrich All Terrian Tires. I did this with no lift kit. I have not had any problem with rubbing. I am looking to lift it in the future. My friend with a 93 regular cab put 31x1050 R15 on his but he said they rubbed when he went off roading. He lifted the front 2" with a leveling kit from Fabtech, and also put an add-a-leaf in the rear. I was looking to do the same in the near future, minus the add-a-leaf. The truck looks more aggressive with the new tires. I had the 225/70R14 on before.

Ranger Lift Question

i have 31 x 10.50's on my 94 ranger with a 3" lift and it looks ok but the tires look a little small so the two inch lift will be plenty of room for them.

Ranger Lift Question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Aug-02 AT 07:18 PM (EST)]Thought I'd mention the following so you know what you could be getting into with Levelor Coils.

I have a '94 Ranger equipped as noted below. When we put on the front Rough Country Levelor coils, we had to put in 1.8 degree lower alignment bushings to get it just barely back into alignment specs. This was to tilt the bottom of the tire towards the outside and the top of the tire towards the inside. I don't think they make any more aggressive bushings than what we put in because the hole was clear to the outside of the bushing - i.e. no more room to offset.

Even though it is within spec on alignment (at least I think), it still don't look just right to me - the front tires still kind of look tilted out at top (in at bottom) at times.

To make it "just right", what I am thinking about getting (now that I have noticed them) are these TuffCountry axle pivot or "alignment" brackets shown in the link below. I can't seem to find a price on the TuffCountry website, but JC Whitney has what looks like the same brackets on page 51 of their Ford Truck Catalog for $129.95 for the pair. I couldn't find them on the JC Whitney website, though.

[link:www.tuffcountry.com/align.htm|TuffCountry Alignment Brackets]

By the way, I just sent an e-mail to the "Answerman" at Rough Country about all this so we'll see what they recommend....I'll let you know, as long as I get a response, that is.

Also, my Levelor coils have been on for a couple years and at least 24k miles so they have had plenty of time to "settle in" to their lowest height.

In spite of it all, I would NEVER go back to that nose-heavy, tire-up-in-the-wheelwell look of many of the 90's 4x4 Rangers - in my opinion, they look like sagged-out sick cows.

Ranger Lift Question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Aug-02 AT 08:21 PM (EST)]I think I have found another, cheaper solution to the "Alignment after Leveling Coils" problem. It looks like Specialty Products Company, which made the #23190, 1.8 degree alignment sleeves I put in with the leveling coils, now makes an "XR" series of sleeve that are 2.0, 2.25, 2.5, and 2.75 degree sleeves especially for raised Rangers.

See link below, the "XR" sleeves are near the bottom of the list and are marked by an aterisk(*). Make sure you are looking at the 2WD degree numbers for 2WD and the 4WD degree numbers for 4WD.

[link:www.specprod.com/PROD_DIR/PROD_TRUCK.html|Specialty Product's Alignment Sleeves]

This is actually a "semi-link" - you will have to go through their quick product selector to get to the right page. Click on the number in the "Front Camber" column after you select.

Ranger Lift Question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Aug-02 AT 06:03 PM (EST)]Note about the TuffCountry Alignment Brackets mentioned in my post above:

These alignment brackets are only available for 4WD (not for 2WD). I checked with TuffCountry on this because the webpage is slightly unclear on this. I was looking at my 4WD's brackets and it really don't look like they would be much fun to put on - the left side bracket is held on with those huge frame rivets, for one thing.

Instead of buying these brackets, I am going to go the "XR" alignment sleeves route, see post above.

If you are lookin' at those brackets, I would take a look at your truck and make sure you know what you're gettin into with them.

By the way, the "Answerman at RoughCountry" said there were more degrees of alignment sleeves (I'm talking sleeves now, not brackets) available, but didn't state where at. This is what prompted me to search for and find the info on Specialty Product's new series "XR" alignment sleeves. I had the box of the Specialty Products 1.8 degree sleeves I first bought, so that gave me a big head start.

Ranger Lift Question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Aug-02 AT 10:23 AM (EST)]Clarification: The alignment sleeve (or bushing) degree numbers I state in my posts above are the degree numbers if the sleeve is used on a 4WD. The same sleeve will provide a different degree adjustment when working with a 2WD - both the 4WD and 2WD degree numbers will be shown on the sleeve's box, or at least they are on the "Specialty Products" boxes I have.
