Just my opinion? As far as basic care goes, I wouldn't bet on it. Special care (not babying the engine, however) - yes.
I say that because we all know what we put our engines through. There's not a manual that can cover that. We know at 1000 miles after an oil change that after we travel down a dusty road with a questionable air filter that we need to change the oil sooner. We know that towing a 15K LB load up a steep grade so many times warrants a change in fluids all 'round, etc. Special care is knowing what to do under our own personal circumstances. If we apply it, 300K is probable.
My uncle is shop foreman for city and has about 30 f550-650s bobtails. All with v-10's that have between 250k and 310k miles. One blown spark plug when new,few alternators and starters, and a few plugged injectors. These trucks hual heavyloads in the dusty hills and dont exactly get babied. But they do get serviced regularly.I asked him about this engine when I was looking to buy and he said he absolutly loves it.This is from a die hard Chevy man by the way.
The mini-bus shuttles that go to the airport have over 500k miles on them and seem to be driving just fine. Nice to know, all they get is regular oil changes. They're always on the road.
