I recently purchased a used 2004 Explorer, I don't know where to find the code for the keyless remote. The owners manual tells me to look at the Computer box, where can I find that? The dealer tried to contact the previous owner but he/she doesn't reply. I could drive the 65 miles back to the dealer to get it but I thought I would try here 1st.
Are you referring to the keyless keypad, or the remote keyless entry fob? I think you're talking about the keypad???
When I purchased my pre-owned Navigator and Mercury Sable, I found the vehicle's computer in the region above the driver’s pedals. I believe it was a black slim box, slightly smaller than a VHS tape with a large number of cords running to it. You should find a sticker on the computer with a 5 digit number (your keypad code). Hope that helps…and have a flashlight handy Good Luck, Joe

On my 2000 expl. its over the rear drivers side wheel. I had to look back into the compartment over the wheel. Had to use a mirror to read the code. I dunno if your is the same... I hope it helps
You’re correct. On my 1997 Explorer you can find the code where you mentioned. However, newer Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Products have the code on the computer, as is the case with my 2001 Lincoln Navigator and Merc. Sable. Good luck, Joe
For more information look at the very first thread in this fourm. It is titled "Read First: Keyless Entry Codes"
