i have done a few mods over the years to my 89 460 efi and notice that my ford platimun spark plugs (gap .044) show it is running lean- grayish color around insulator. it has headers, banks cat back, edelbrock throttle body, k&n filter, msd coil, taylor wires, and until recently an msd 6a that broke.
should there be anything to be concerned about?
You haven't listed a new or reworked air meter. Did you reprogram the computer too? The better airflow you have with the rest of the mods may not go so well with the old air meter.
are you talking about the air charge temperature sensor? that is the only thing i can think of in terms of air meter on this truck and i dont know any way to reprogram the computer or get a new air meter
Running lean makes the engine run hotter than needed. I know in a snowmobile you can blow a motor if it is too lean, I would think that a truck motor would be the same. I am sure someone else could give a more detailed explination than I can.
