the 8595 is a vacuum advance where the 8594 is a mechanical advance
i would go with the 8595 Vacuum Advance they seem work better for normal street driving. the machanical advance need more adjusting up front but work well too
Have you checked out Performance Distributors DUI dizzy? One wire hookup, eliminates ignition module and coil, and they custom curve them for you.
Just throwing that out there, when I was doing a slight rebuild on my 400, I ordered a MSD dizzy and box, then stumbled upon the DUI 30 minutes later for half the price and cancelled the MSD order. So far, I love it, very reliable, and a noticable throttle response and idle quality.
i had both the HEI from msd and the one from DUI. The dui one is huge and never fit in with my 4 barrel intake. You can change the curve of your MSD yourself and its really easy (almost fun). either one will work fine but ill say the msd is better looking. also with racecars we have, the DUIs were not keeping up with the task so we went to MSD (with a box) and never looked back.
make sure it is rebuildable mine went out 3 weeks after warranty msd wanted $113.00 to fix and i still had to pay shipping both ways! so i went back to factory diz and no problems 4 yrs now and no difference in performance!
I run complete MSD setups (6AL boxes, billet dizzy's, plug wires, and coils) in my race trucks and have never had a problem. I have MSD 6A with a stock Ford dizzy in my street truck and it has worked flawlessly.
By going to a MSD box you can get rid of all of the Ford ignition stuff which for me simplifies the whole arrangement.
I'v rum MSD and a 6A on my fully built type one so Iv got to play with the timing curve before...
If I bought the 8595 wouldent that do away with all of the Ford ignition stuff???

You don't even need the 8595. A MSD box will work just fine with the stock dizzy AND eliminates the ford ignition stuff. That is how my daily driver is set up.
I installed an 8350 MSD Ready to Run in my 400 about 2 years ago.Could not be happier.Easy to install, easy to curve and time.Put in the new Blaster2 coil with it.
I have the ready to run msd mechanical advance distributor. I was having problems with it starting after 4 years. Turned out to be the magnetic pick up. Easy to change not too much. Back to working great.
Don't know what exactly failed but just like the previous time, parked, shut it off, and never started again.............I suppose I could check into the magnetic pickup, whatever that is..............Not to keen on electronics to begin with..............................
