Took my 99 F250 Powerstroke in for emmissions check for new tags last Friday.
The attendants motioned me into the garage but did not put my truck into the rollers. They motioned to each other had a couple of huddles then informed me to drive out and visit the office out front.
There I was informed that they can't test my truck due to a "surging" and passed me through with a "Directors Certificate". That's a new one on me anyone experienced anything like this...this is in Arizona by the way.
Do they exempt diesels in your area?
In MN when the where doing emission tests in minneapolis/st. paul area they exempted diesel from it.
Now they are not doing emission test currently.
I had the same thing hapen to me last june when my emmissions were due. The $9.00 bucks sure beats running our trucks through the test that they make them go through. I don't really think its good for them to run at wot with no load and the governor kicking in for the 3 minutes that they take. I asked the attendant and he said that it is their new policy that if the governor makes the engine surge that they will not run them. The only problem is that we will still have to take them back and pay the 9 bucks again next year.
