i have a 390 4bbl intake that i got from my uncle......but it sat in his garage for ever and its all rusty inside......what should i do to clean it?
and i have a holley 600cfm 4bbl carb but the secondary jets are way too big for the secondary holes on the intake who makes a good, cheap adapter plate?

Take it to your local machine shop and spend a couple of $$ to have it hot tanked and cleaned...

I think what you are saying is that the bores for the secondaries are larger than the bore holes in your manifold. You have the wrong type of carburetor, like a spread bore C$&vy. There are open adapter/spacer plates you can buy from Ebay or your local parts store if you decide to keep the carb for your motor.
You are referring to the 70 pound hunk of cast iron, correct? There is no taking tham apart, unless you are refering to the plate on the underside. This can be removed as it has threaded rivits, but that just blocks the underside of the manifold, it does not gain you access to the inside....
You can use some thinner and a brush to get some of the rust and crap out of it. An air compressor will help blow some junk out too. You can wet sand it with some emery but may have a problem getting way inside of it. Just blow or flush it very well before using it. Having it tanked or soda blasted will achieve the best results as recommended. G.
