My 75 F-350 developed a rear end noise in Baja that was speed related (50 plus only... and disappears on coasting) - a rhythymic thumping with a slight metallic component. I intially thought u-joints... so I replaced all and the middle shaft bearing - still have noise. Checked right rear bearings today and while outside was loose noise is still there.
Think bad gears or something in the rear end. Any ideas? I am going to pop the rear end cover and change differential juice tomorrow.
Anyone know a good (cheap) source of new gears?? Thanks
Thanks... My next step is opening the rear end and see the damage... then spending the $$$. I have never done one so will probably take it somewhere and have it done. probably about a grand total I am guessing.
