I prefer backing in to park and have to negotiate between a mailbox, three vehicles, trees, and the corner of my house at the end of a (dark) day. Because of the trucks wide rear and a standard suburban driveway I have only inches on each side as I back in. During the day its not a problem. At night .
I have (Trac) racks on the bed. Would some sort of lighting on the bars work? Is there a way to really increase the output of the installed reverse lights?
I tell you those lights in the rear fender flares an not just for show. I really depend on them for determining clearances.

Is anyone using the Fixed Mount Unit? I like the setup and looks, but as I need to remove my Equalizer trailer hitch between uses I am concerned that its going to be a pain with the lights blocking the trailer lock holes. Any thoughts?
Just mount some fog lights or work lights on the underside of the bumper, or somewhere up under there, but mount them more toward the sides of the bumper, so they throw more light down the sides area behind the truck. KC actually makes what are called "backup" lights that are designed specifically for this, kind fo like the whitenight lights. Kind of like this: http://www.aztrucks.com/category.asp?product=79
I'm sure you'll find a system that'll work for you. Also, there've been quite a few threads on wiring, and other ideas about backup lights, so a search will probably help too.
I've seen several mfgs with 55w back up lights. Since most folks with Trac Racs leave the front upright in place you could mount them there. I'd check with an inspection station though to see whether you could hard wire them or have to put them on a switch.
Thanks for the ideas. Sounds like something on the racks will work better since they will also light the bed. Depending if I can get them cheap enough the rotating remote control spotlights like the "Go Lights" might also work. They can turn 360°.
The neighbors might object but the 7.3L announces my arrival home anyway.

Reg I was at Wal-Mart today, picked up a set of lights for $23, mounted them on the rack. Cost to me was only for the lights as I had the mounting hardware and wiring. I installed them to the Aux 1 switch this afternoon. Works great, bright enough for backing but won't blind me either when I'm setting up the trailer. I should have photos up in a day.
Aux 1 is the label on one of the Upfitter switches in the 05's.
Any installation advice for those of us not fortunate enough to own a '05 with the switches? I have a '02 F250 and I am considering installing the KC backup lights mentioned above. Thanks, Carl

tap them into the back-up lights on the trailer hitch harness. i forget the color, check it with a test light

bad part about tapping them in your back up circut, those lights(55 watts X 2) draw almost 10 amps themselves. the proper way to wire them is to use a relay off your back up lights and pull the power straight from the battery. If you want turn them on and off your self or automaticly, use a SPDT switch (on-off-on) and find the back up circut(turns on when in reverse) under the dash along with aux circut(turns on with key). the wire that comes off the center terminal of the switch goes to the relay. makes it possibile a nice work light for when hooking up the trailer(also an anti tailgating feature)
Here's pics in my gallery of the ones I put on... https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...=25207&width=2
wide angle 55w fog lights from Walmart...
but I did tap into the reverse parking circuit and need to run a wire up to the battery because they are not at full wattage yet... but haven't had a minute yet...
