I bought a set of generic 55w backup lights at Pep Boys for $20. They mount to the receiver and are very slim, but can also be mounted to the underside of the bumper if you want to drill 2 small holes. They come with all the wiring to hook them into your reverse lights, but they are very easily modified to work off a switch instead. I also have the 55w backup bulbs in my stock backup lights. Between the 2 everything lights up great while backing. http://image08.webshots.com/8/0/11/1...8okpnvK_ph.jpg
I have had my truck for less than 2 months and installed the fixed mount whitenight setup. Works great and still can get at hitch pin holes okay. No photos just joined site and haven't started a gallery. Extra backup lights are a must up here and i am happy with these and the look of the setup.
I used a relay to run the BU lights, the relay is triggered by the reverse signal. However, if you have the trailer tow package with the 7Pin RV plug, the center pin for Reverse BU lights. It is fused by a 30A (not 100% sure on fuse size) fuse, seperate from the two lights in the tail lights. I chose to use a relay so that I can control the relay from in the cab as well as have it trip when in reverse. Pulled all the power from the Trailer plug. The battery charge is relayed as well, key is off, no chance of forgetting to turn them off and drain the battery.
Does anyone know if you can buy the switch assembly for the '05 seperate? approx. cost? Looks like it would install in the cubby hole on the dash pretty easily.

How much lite is deverted to the rear sides of the truck? Lookin at installing on mine but I have a cap on all winter so I need more side lite for the mirrors.
I mounted four cheapy wal-mart fog lights under my truck and boy do they do the trick. I also have some mounted up on my headache racks, but they are too high to light right where i need it (the tailgate blocks a lot of their light). I have two fogs mounted up by the doors pointing out at an angle towards the rear corners, then too more mounted next to my spare tire that point straight back. Between the four of them they really do a great job of lighting everything up. Here is a pic of one of them.. look at the top right hand corner and you can see it.
For SRW the bumper is the max width. I am concerned that with DRW once the bumper (with the lights) passes by the side/corner of the building the rear flares will fall into shadows. My truck is also all black. It is the sides of the truck vice the rear that is my focus.
CWB, I see that you installed directly into a stock bumper. I want to do the same. In fact, I have a spare stock bumper for that very purpose, in case I mess it up.
Which lights did you use and how do you make the hole (punch?, cut?) I haven't found lights yet that would do well with a flush mount.

Ive done this on front and rear bumpers in the past , and I have just used a jig saw for the hole, and lined the edge with door edge guard molding. Just pick and light and cut the hole to match. I did that on my last F250 w/Warn bumper.

Where in AK are you?
Sorry it took so long to reply, I don't logon that often. As far as the lights, IMO everything I see through the side rearview mirrors is well lighted. I bought mine at AutoTrim, installed myself.
