Which lights did you use and how do you make the hole (punch?, cut?) I haven't found lights yet that would do well with a flush mount.
Pep boys specials. Anything round will work or odd shaped if you have a plasma cutter. I used a hole saw.

I did this with my Sport Trac (easy mod) better than stock, but not as good as extra lights.

I bought the KC backup light kit (55 watt Halogen) and mounted the lights under the bumper directly to the rear of the rear wheels. They throw the light to the side of the truck where I can see to the rear using the outside mirrors. Works great.

Is yours a DRW? Has anyone done this with DRW?

Mine is single rear wheel, but the lights are easy to twist to shine slightly to the sides. I tested the lights first under the trailer hitch, but the height of the bed blocks looking straight back to see backup lights. I used the 2x6 55w backup lights which cost $90 for the complete kit. I see on their website that they now have a 85 watt kit for $40. Oh well...

I just installed the KC Hilites 55w backup system. Installation was pretty straight forward. I mounted the lights to the hitch using 3 inch stainless steel pipe clamps. I think this is a good alternative to drilling into the hitch. Now I can see everything behind me when backing up. This system works especially well since I have limo tint over the factory tint on the rear windows.

I got them from StylinConcepts.....they were twice as bright as factory.....however, they created a problem with my factory backup sensors......one constant beep in reverse..... sending them back.

Today I picked up a pair of the 55w hitch lighs from AutoZone....easy install, looks good, bright as heck...........still have the prob with the backup sensors...............HELP!!!

Thx in advance

If you have an 05 , hook the back-up lights to either Aux 3 or Aux 4 as they are 10 amp switches. Aux 1 & 2 are 30 amp

Scott, I have them hooked up to the main backup light wiring. The addon lights have an in-line fuse. Please tell me more concerning the AUX wire.

BTW.....2004 Scab, 5.4L

Thx

I installed a set of Halogen 3156 lights in my truck. They did not cause any problems with my back-up sensors. I would still like to have more light, so I will probably put a set of auxiliary lights under the bumper in the near future.

i threw the walmart special on the back for 20 bucks with the harness and its hooked up to an on-off switch... but i want to put it on a 3way toggle so they come on when in reverse, and so i can shut em off all the time or just turn them on when needed. i don;t wanna have to keep rememberin to turn em on when plowing. whats the easiest way to do this. i have the power wire with the inline fuse, the ground, and the wire to the lights. how do i send a wire from the reverse wire to the switch..or however you do it. does the 3way toggle have 4 inputs for wires? please write in simple terms so i can understand em. seein how i'm not that electrically inclined . thanks for any help you can give me.

no, i didn't miss it, you're the one i got the idea from...i'm just a little confused about the aux circuit and back up circuit and wiring it into the relay (the aux and reverse are in the same relay i assume). by circuit u mean wires correct? why do i need to find the aux as well? do i have to tap into it? so i would feed a wire from the center terminal of the toggle into an open slot in the relay? its rainin out right now so i'm not looking at the truck and i don't have the switch yet, i'm just tryin to get an idea of how hard (easy for you) it'll be. sorry for all the dumb questions i just really wanna learn how to do this stuff and i have to know what does what to learn it. thanks for your time crash.

If you have an 05 with Upfitter Switches, switch 3 (aux 3) and switch 4 (aux 4) are the 10 amp fed switches that you would want to use. I prefere to have the lights on a switch rather than tied in to the reverse lights, this way I can turn them on whenever I like.
