Engine Idle Control
#46
Hey me1mckee,
I have a 04 and was looking at hooking up your idle control. I looked above the throttle pedal but could not find a wire bundle marked customer access. I did find the wires above the parking brake. hoping you could help me out a little more, I don't just want to go hooking anything up wrong and make my baby go boome.
Thanks
John

mejer1,
With the dash access panel removed, look from below the steering wheel through the metal framework of the dash to the area above the throttle pedal. OR, locate the OBD connection (blue and black plug at bottom of dash near your right leg) and follow the wires up. There will be one single wire sticking out of that bundle about a foot or so up the bundle (yes its pretty far into the dash, difficult to strip the wire). This bundle will be wrapped with a tag that reads "customer access wires, ....refer to Body Builder manual for instructions.....". The wire that you are looking for is WHITE with a LIGHT BLUE stripe, again, it is the ONLY wire sticking out of the bundle and should have a black rubber tip on it- this wire is 12 volts power and should not be touched to anything with the ignition on. I used a normal glow toggle switch and mounted it beside of the little vent just above the access cover basically in front of the ignition switch. This spot is easy to run the wires to from both connections, also there are two large ground posts directly behind it and one has a tab that can be pulled up and connect a spade plug right onto it for your switch ground without extra screws or holes. OK, sorry this was so long but I hope it clears up any questions anyone might have. Happy to help any time, Mat

Great
Ok, the picture worked, so here is another better one of those weird plugs under the dash. Does anyone know what the heck these go to? They are above the parking brake and were pushed way up in the dash and fell out when I was fishing for the throttle/ PTO connections. Any help is always appreciated.

Just one more..
I promise this is the last picture, it is for mejer1. This is the best shot I could get of the wires above the throttle before I connected to them. Hope it helps.

Mejer 1,
This is a little off the subject of this thread, but does your remote start with turbo cool feature have a temp sensor or a timer? I would like to have something that can run until the turbo is 300 deg, not for 10- 15 minutes. That way if it only needs to run for 3 minutes b/c I wasn't hammering wide open before stopping, I don't waste all that fuel (idling one hour is equivalent to driving 33 miles approx.). Glad you found the wires, it has made a big difference with warm up time in the AM for me and runs smoother, so it was a great little add- on for 4 bucks.

Me1mckee,
My remote starter has a timer on the turbo cool down. It can be set for 1 min., 3 min., 5 min., or 10 min.
Also hooked up the switch for the high idle today, it works great. thanks
Also it might be a good thing for you to add the instructions for this to the new Tech folder.
