I have the same thing mounted on my column. Rolled slightly to the left, it gives me an unobstructed view of my stock dash gauges. It's about 2 1/2 inches or so.

I also mounted a small tach in the far left air vent. It looks good and if I ever want to move it or something the vent can be popped back in place.
