Expanding pipe

Can anyone tell me where to get a tool for expanding exhaust pipe? Does Pep Boys rent the tool needed? Is it a fairely easy procedure? I would like to custom make my system if possible.

Ya know, I used to see those tools at almost every parts store, but I don't remember seeing one in quite a while now. You might check with NAPA, though.

Exhaust pipe stretcher

4x4Bronco, Lesle tool company has a "Exhaust Tailpipe Stretcher" that you use an impact gun on the bolt to expand. Don't get the tailpipe straightner as it only removes U bolt clamp crush, and not even good at that. The tailpipe stretcher bolt goes into a long nut that has 4 taper sides on one end to expand the shoes. Since i'm an electrician i added a hydraulic knock out punch to the expander, makes a trick tool to use. The Lesle Stretcher part # is LIS 34400, list for $107, can be had for $71 plus freight. Yes not cheap for a
tool that you don't use every day, but when i needed it, it was worth way more than the frustration of not having it. Man can never have too many tools, wives yes! Hope this helps, Carl.....o&o>......
