Where can I go to get a good deal on these tips. The Exhaust shop I'm going to said that it would be like 75 bucks for a pair of Stainless Steel tips of the aforementioned (4x24) variety. I want them cheaper. He said that I could get the chrome tips cheaper...why is chrome cheaper then stainless steel?
Anyways...what I'm looking for is 4" diameter by 24" long with an inlet of 2.25", though if needed then the pipe could probably be flared out to meet a 2.5" inlet tip. 351M - you're a proponent of big tips...can you hook me up with a source?
He said 2.25" pipes owuld be fine, agreed that 2.5" was too much on a stock 302, and that the 2.25" would be alright - I do plan on doing a few things to it in time. Also...said I'd need 24" glasspacks to make it sound good...I had said 18-24" and he said the 18" would be just too loud.
Also said he's fab up a footlong pipe and turndown for my truck when I pop the muffler off (interm fix) for less then 10 bucks. I wish I could get the exhaust done sooner...
Actually, I'd be willing to settle on an 18" tip if need be, or if the cost difference was adequate. Just..anybody know where to look for tips on the internet? Any discount places, anything? But I'd like to have the 4x24's...I'm just big on the 4" part...and be long enough to give her rumble.
I can't really say where a good place would be in the states, I use Canadian Tire here, also the stainless are more expensive because they cost more to make and also because the steel ones will rust. I'll also check into the 4x24" tips and see what I can come up with for ya.
I'm concidering just buying the Thrush glasspacks and 4x22 (Lawson Tips are 22" at max flared from 2.25" pipe) tips myself and just bringing them in to the guy and saying here you go...have at it. The tips are free shipping...and I believe the Summit stuff was free too, not for sure, have to read that again though. Still...I don't think he's going to get packs for much cheaper from any other source, is he? Even if he is a shop?
I chopped my muffler off the old girl yesterday, and it sounds way better. Burbles on decel and downshift, roars a bit. Still too quiet with those cat's though. I have my muffler in the back of my truck so when I see my uncle again, I can pulli t out and say that it "feel off" my truck.
