93 Ranger Splash ABS and Brake lights come on sometimes and are off sometimes - no real standard times, just seem to go on / off erratically - one time starts up with no lights, next time starts up with ABS/brake lights on.
ABS sensor? Speed Sensor? ABS harness connections? Air in system?
I had the same symptoms on my 94 2.3 liter 2 wheel drive. As any good mechanic will tell you the first thing to check for is a bad electrical connection. On the driver's side wheel well inside the engine compartment you'll see a grey harness. Follow it down to make sure it's the one that goes back to the rear brakes. Unplug it and spray some contact cleaner into the connections. This solved the problem for me. If you still have a problem check for other harnesses in the engine compart and further down by the back brakes. Hope this helps. Of course, make sure you have the proper fluid level too.
If you check the system and brakes over and find everything OK you should pull the code. Email me if you need the procedure, I will be away until 9/26.
My 94 Ranger RABS light came on. I found a blown fuse. Replaced it, checked fluid level, float, electrical connections and brakes...all good. Fuse blew again! ABS light blinks (15 short, 1 long) rather than staying on.

FYI for everyone else, this is a power, ground, short or module problem.
