sup all i got a 85 long bed 2wd i just put a 280hp 302 and c4 in here is my ? it has 410 gears and i know with the power i will be putting to the wheels i am going to fry the little7.5 rear end so here is what i want to know i am going to replace it when it goes and i was wondering what would be a good gear to go with i am useing it a a daily driver

In the case of your rear end going out,Unless you go mustang,a 4.0 ranger 8.8 rear end is a good choice and probly bolt up unlike a mustang. As far as a ratio, your pretty light being a truck so you can probly go to a higher ratio such as 3.55s or 3.73s. that way you dont loose to much take off.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Oct-02 AT 06:36 PM (EST)]yeah i think though if you put a stang rearend under it you'll have to narrow it, dont hold me to that though. i have a friend with a 302 in a b2 with 3.73 gears and has been known to pop the front wheels off the ground, just barely....but still off the ground. if it was me id put some airplane gears in it like some 3.08's you wouldnt have take off for crap but 160 here i come.LOL
